Arrived safe, sound and tired. After a brief rest at our hotel we ventured downtown Moshi. For Earl quite the experience…..dusty roads, no side walks, street vendors everywhere, got ridden over several times and no rhime or reason for any organization anywhere.
Made it back to the hotel somewhat winded but in one piece. Freddie and Rich our two head exhibition guides took the two of us out to dinner. Quite the meat lovers experience. Very very good spinach and grilled bananas and I would say the best pot of tea I have ever had. These two guys are fantastic, both born and raised in Kilimanjaro so, you can imagine the stories. They have both taken Earl and I under their wings, tomorrow we experience the authentic coffee culture….we will visit a small village where they cultivate coffee.
i am really glad I booked 3 days before the climb not only to start getting altitude acclimated but to also experience the culture. We also brought a case of children’s books with us. Freddie is arranging for us to donate to an orphanage in the name of Annamarie Angels.
I was very impressed with Embark Exhibition and Freddie who got to meet Stephanie Paddock from Team Fox in New York. Through their meeting and becoming friends Freddie is heading up another Team Fox Kili climb early next year.
