We have this great meeting of the minds at work where the district and store teams pool their talents and resources together. The day is filled with strategy and great communication ending the day tired but energized with mega ideas to drive business. It is a fun day but pretty intense and we start early. Would you believe I woke up late!!!! I’m the VPSM and its my store that all these incredible minds are converging on. Well, for those of you that have Parkinson’s or know someone with PD….this is not a good start to our day. Meds have not quite kicked in, coordination is like jelly, speech and swallow reflexes sound like you’ve taken a hit from balloon filled with helium and forget even trying to apply eyeliner!! Anyway, I get to work on time, meds and the car ride blasting with music have put my body back together however, my mind is still thinking “oh hell my business overview is not quite strong enough”…………Welcome to my new normal!!!!!
It turns out that the entire district and store team where in kahoots (not sure if that’s an actual word). The leader of this undercover operation was none other than my HR manager Holly AND my boss Lee!!!! The meeting that day was a farce and instead they organized a celebration. They surprised me totally…with a Kilimanjaro basket filled with much needed items for my adventure. The day was filled with fun, laughter and friends. It does’nt get much better than that. I have yet to know of a company that cares for their people as much as Macy’s North Florida/Southeast.
20 day countdown….the journey begins.
